Always
use non-oily espresso beans and avoid clogging of grinder and
doser. |
|
Roasted beans are very
dry and thirsty for moisture. Do not refrigerate or freeze
coffee beans. (Beans are not seafood or dairy
product). |
|
Do not fill up bean
hoppers as a convenience. Until used up, the beans in the bean
hopper are exposed to moisture and air which change the
quality and taste of coffee. |
|
Always store roasted
coffee beans in air-tight containers. Zip lock bags are ideal
for storing coffee beans. Portion the contents of an espresso
bag in 4 to 6 parts (portion for use in one day). Place one
portion in one bag. Squeeze air out and zip lock. Open on bag
at a time. |

Installation of the new steam valve body in Vienna
& Trevi models
To remove the steam valve, it
has to be pressed in and shift to the right, to unhook it from
the back. Once two hooks are released, the valve body is loose
and pulls out. Before removing the valve body, the steam
microswitch has to be removed. The microswitch is mounted on a
push down plastic mounting bracket (# in the diagram). Free
this bracket by pressing its front locking pin as it is pulled
up & out. Disconnect the Teflon hose on the left of
the valve body by pulling out hairpin lock. Remove the
cam rod on the right, inserted inside the valve body. Locate
the flexible lock pin in the diagonal slot. Press it in as you
pull the rod out. Remove and replace all small parts as shown
in the steam valve diagram. To insert O-rings, wet them
with lube to facilitate easy sliding in. Seals hold
better when lubricated. Refer to and follow the
diagram carefully.
(The
steam knob is pushed on the cam rod, as a last step after
the cover is replaced).

Replacing internal parts in Vienna or Trevi
models. |
| |
|
(Boiler, Pump, Thermostat, Flow meter) in Vienna
& Trevi models |
|
To access
internal parts, the entire machine assembly has to be pulled
out.
First remove the upper cover, as
described under installation of steam
valve.
The internal parts are mounted on a
flat center plate that partitions the machine into two halfs.
The front half houses the brew group and the rest of internal
parts are mounted on the center plate itself.. This partition
slides into tracks, one on each side. Locate the tracks on the
left and the right side of the lower casing. The entire plate
is held at the bottom with a flexible plastic hook. To
pull the plate up with all of the internal parts on it, it has
to be freed from the bottom hook. To free the hook, see the
picture showing bottom of the machine and follow the steps
below: |
| 1- Lay the machine on its back. Insert a flat
screw driver in the slot as shown in the picture below.
While the screw driver is still in the slot, pull the plate up
enough (about 1/4") to make sure that it is freed from
the hook.
2- Remove the cable from the wedged
grip.
3- Pull the center plate
(released from the hook) up while simultaneously feeding
the cable from below. The plate will not pull up easily if the
power supply cable is not pushed up from the bottom. When the
center plate is out of the lower casing, continue to pull the
power cable and its plug out of the casing.
4- The entire internal parts
assembly is out and available for testing and replacement of
faulty individual parts, as necessary.
5- Before disconnecting any wires
make sure that they are tagged properly. Some wires can get
disconnected during the pulling of internal parts.
Check closely to make sure that there are no lose wires
before starting work on any other item. This is
especially important for wires on the electronic control board
and the wires on the heating element, thermostats, steam
knob switch and the door switch.
